What is CGM?
A continuous glucose monitor overview

Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a technology that allows you to measure glucose levels in real-time throughout the day and night.

The sensor and transmitter

The CGM device is made up of two parts: the sensor and transmitter.

The sensor and transmitter

1. Sensor
Checks glucose levels every 5 minutes. Can be worn on the abdomen, arm, or buttock depending on your age.

2. Transmitter
Connects to the sensor and sends glucose information to your smartphone.

The sensor is inserted under the skin, so it is in contact with the fluid between your cells, called interstitial fluid. The transmitter is connected to the sensor and the sensor then measures the glucose in the interstitial fluid and sends this information to the transmitter. The transmitter then wirelessly sends this data out to your device.
