The Guardian Connect continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system is the standalone CGM system from Medtronic designed from the ground up to help serve the needs of customers on multiple daily insulin injections. Leveraging both modern mobile technology and the latest advances from Medtronic, the Guardian Connect system provides a smarter way to manage your diabetes.

Through the Guardian Connect system, individuals can:

  • See current glucose levels and trends, right on their mobile device, at any time
  • Get alerts – including predictive alerts up to 60 minutes in advance – of high and low glucose events*
  • Connect with care partners and healthcare professionals (HCPs) via the CareLink system platform, to enable care partner remote monitoring and HCP therapy optimization when connected to the internet via Wi-Fi/mobile data

The Guardian Connect system is the only CGM system with customizable predictive alerts that helps you outsmart both highs and lows. Using smart technology to predict where your glucose levels are headed, the system can alert you from 10 to 60 minutes before a high or low.

The Guardian Connect CGM system allows you to track your sensor glucose trends in real time on your compatible mobile device. The Guardian Connect app will also alert you up to an hour before a high or low. Without predictive alerts turned on, it has a 90.5% hypoglycemia detection rate (when worn on the abdomen). With predictive alerts, turned on and set at 30 minutes before a low, the Guardian Connect system had a 98.5% hypoglycemic detection rate (when worn on the abdomen). With this information, you can take action to help avoid highs and lows.2,3
In the U.S., customers will need a prescription from their physician for the Guardian Connect system. (While anyone can download the Guardian Connect app, it will not function without being paired to a Guardian transmitter.)
We work with more than 600 insurers nationwide and can often help with the process and paperwork. Getting started is easy. Simply fill out the interest form and our team will collect insurance and pharmacy coverage information to get you started.
The Guardian Connect system is currently indicated for use in customers age 14-75.

The Guardian Connect system compatibility information can be found by visiting Guardian Connect FAQs.

You should confirm compatibility with the Guardian Connect system using this link before updating your operating system.

The transmitter used with the pump system is different and doesn’t have Bluetooth® connectivity, so it isn’t compatible with the Guardian Connect app. The MiniMed 600-series pumps use the Guardian Link 3 transmitter, which uses a different wireless technology to communicate with the pump. The transmitter shell for the Guardian Connect system also has a “GC” etched on the surface opposed to the pump system transmitter shell, which just has a “G.”
